Again on Sugar

Another thing, the Sugar developers tries to eliminate the usual interface that people use to used. For example, the pie menu as the organizing concept. Let us see how it works. It is a ring of running activities around a user (or so-called as XO). Watch a video on how to use the new paradigm of interface (by starting teaching it to children at their early age) here.

There are different opinions on the subjects of changing the common-normal interface in personal computer and yet, OLPC tries to adapt a new interface. A blog by 'Coding Horror' have discuss on the potential of OLPC project and the possible nightmare to face. Emmmm...People also argue on the idea of changing the way things now and some of them differentiate between the capability of Western kids with children from the 3rd world countries. I guess sometimes we should stop thinking and straight away doing it. Take the risks and don't afraid of losing. That is also a way to learn. A blog discuss on Sugar's interface.

Then I remember reading about the QWERTY phenomenon in Papert's famous book "Mindstorms". It illustrate how skeptical and critical people are when it comes to a new transformation of technology (#33). I guess it goes the same when people argue about Sugar and perhaps the wheel is turning again and again.
